Target Coming to Fate TX at Lafayette Crossing

City of Fate announced a new 147,000 sq ft Target at IH-30 and FM 551 in Lafayette Crossing. Pad-site tenants and opening date still TBD.

Big shopping news for our side of the lake. On August 10, 2026, the City of Fate said a new Target is coming to Fate TX.

This is not a Facebook rumor. It is an official city announcement on the Lafayette Crossing page.

Where the Target will be

The store is planned at the northwest corner of IH-30 and FM 551 (Crawford Road) inside Lafayette Crossing in Fate, Texas.

Size listed by the city: 147,000 square feet.

The city says Target will carry everyday stuff — groceries, clothes, home goods, and household products.

What else is planned around it

Plans also call for five more pad sites (smaller lots for other shops) around the Target. The city says those tenants will be announced later. Nobody knows which stores yet, so I won't guess.

What Lafayette Crossing is

Lafayette Crossing is a 267-acre big planned project with shops, offices, and future homes along I-30. The long-term plan includes more than 400,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, plus mixed-use and future homes. The city says it will keep growing over the next 15 to 20 years.

Emily Goodrum, Director of Economic Development, said the project shows strong momentum in Fate and that major retailers have confidence in the community. Mayor Andrew Greenberg said Target brings the shopping neighbors have been asking for, plus new jobs and a bigger tax base.

The city says more details on timelines, opening dates, and future tenants will come out when they are ready. When the city posts it, I'll post it here.

Related city note: Project Cactus

On the same Lafayette Crossing page, Fate also describes Project Cactus — a separate city timeline for big retail anchors on the northwest corner of I-30 between Woodcreek Blvd and William E. Crawford (FM-551). That city timeline anticipates roads and utilities by mid-2027 and opening of those Fortune 100 grocery and department-store anchors by the end of 2027.

That is the city's Project Cactus schedule. It is not a confirmed Target open date. Don't mix those two up.
